Reconstruction Work on a Major Water Canal Begins in Uruzgan Province

The reconstruction of a major water canal, approximately 900 meters in length, has begun today in the Daraz Joy area of Dehrawood District, Uruzgan Province.

The project, valued at around 28 million Afghanis, was officially launched in a ceremony by Honorable Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, along with his accompanying delegation.

Present at the inauguration ceremony were Honorable Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development; his accompanying delegation; Honorable Mullah Abdul Ghani Bilal, Head of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Uruzgan Province; Honorable Haji Basheer, District Governor of Dehrawood; Honorable Haji Musafir, District Governor of Chora; as well as several other officials, respected scholars, community elders, and youth.

In addition to the reconstruction of the canal, the project also includes the construction of retaining walls and a water intake structure (headwork).

During the implementation of this project, employment opportunities will be created for hundreds of workers.

Upon completion, the canal will help irrigate hundreds of jeribs of agricultural land for the local residents in the mentioned area.
