The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has begun the research work for the Kaj Samad Water Dam in Farah Province, with an estimated cost of around two billion Afghanis. The research activities were officially launched today during a meeting attended by the acting Minister of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Haji Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, and his accompanying delegation.

In this meeting, the acting Minister of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Haji Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, along with his delegation, the Governor of Nimroz Province, Sheikh Mohammad Qasim Khalid, the Governor of Helmand Province, Mawlawi Abdul Rahman Bilal, and several other officials, scholars, elders, community leaders, and youth from the region were present.

During the opening of the research work for the dam, the acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development emphasized the importance of this large national project, focusing on its economic and social benefits.

The dam, which will be about 56 meters high and have the capacity to store 140 million cubic meters of water, is located in a large arid area between Farah and Nimroz provinces. This area, which suffers from drought and water scarcity, is of vital importance for the region.

During the construction of this dam, thousands of workers will be provided with employment opportunities, and upon its completion, approximately 14,000 hectares of agricultural land will be irrigated.
