MRRD sings contract for 45 development projects with the development councils of Badakhshan, Takhar , Kunduz and Balkh provinces
At a cost of more than AFNs 121 million ($1,629,000) the contract for 45 development projects was signed today between the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and provincial development councils (CDC) of Shar buzrg district of Badakhshan , Cha Ab districts , Dasht qalha , wengee qalha of Takhar , khulm and Emam sahib districts of Kuduz province .
While singing the contracts, H.E Mujib Rahman Karimi the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said that the LITACA program of MRRD is funded by the United Nations World Co-operation Office (JICA) in the Tajik-Afghan border areas which has effective activities in boosting the household economy.
The Minister of MRRD added that in addition of these projects, worth of AFNs 121 million, 20 other development projects are ready and will be signed in the second phase of LITAC Program
H.E Karimi also said that by the implementation of these projects permanent jobs will be created for 455 villagers and 85 villagers will be directly benefited in Badakhshan , Takhar , Kunduz and Balkh provinces . Through this program, villagers’ access to the life facilities will be easier and the available infrastructures in the industry, agricultural and production sectors will be developed
LITACA is the first program in the country which been working in the Tajik_Afghan border areas since 2014, to improve the economic and social conditions of the mentioned areas. And now its second phase has begun.

This program is being implemented by Afghanistan's Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Tajikistan.
