27 Clean Drinking Water Networks Inaugurated in Nangarhar Province

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has completed the construction of 27 clean drinking water supply networks in 17 districts of Nangarhar province and the Omari Camp in Torkham, at a total cost of 148 million Afghanis. These projects were officially inaugurated today by the Honorable Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, during a formal ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development; Alhaj Mullah Gul Mohammad Akhund, Governor of Nangarhar; Mawlawi Mohammad Hashim Maiwandwal, head of Omari Camp; Mawlawi Aminullah Sharif, Director of Public Health; Mawlawi Qismatullah Mubarez, Director of Rural Rehabilitation and Development for Nangarhar; as well as several other officials, scholars, elders, and youth of the province.

In his speech, Minister Akhundzada emphasized the ministry’s commitment to providing clean drinking water for returning refugees, noting that similar projects will be implemented in other camps like Omari Camp. He expressed happiness that thousands of people in 17 districts of Nangarhar now have access to safe drinking water.

He further stated that the ministry will continue its efforts to ensure access to clean water for communities across the country that still face shortages.

With the completion of these networks, thousands of families in Nangarhar Province have now gained access to clean and safe drinking water.
